I would expect a trainer to be interested in my horse and I. Teaching about ALL areas of good horsemanship and who really knows what he/she is talking about.

The training stable should have a very knowledgeable trainer that can explain his/her training methods to you in a way that you can easily understand. I have seen alot of stables where the trainer does bad things like paying the vet to lie on a purchase exam or selling a horse under a false name just to protect their reputation. These people are out there, be careful who you choose for a trainer.

The training stable should work around YOUR needs and wants....not theirs. I was with a trainer for a few years and after that long i realized the all of our frustrations came from only this one thing. The trainer was trying to make my horse a show horse and all I wanted was a nice, pleasurable hack. Due to lack of communication, I spent thousands of wasted dollars on training that i didnt need or want.

If you find the trainer, then you are responsable for "practicing", other wise you will just get frusterated that you can't get it when everyone else does. PS, Francine, if your trainer kept pushing you maybe she thought that you were holding your horse back or that it (and you) were capable of much more. Moreover, you wernt forced to spend the money , and showing is fun.

I agree with Teen-trainer. maybe your horse was good enough to win. or maybe you were talented enough to win. you wern't forced to take lessons.

I expect to see improvement in my animal and that its appearance/well being is equal to what I would have at home. I expect at show that I am getting the same treatment as fulltime livein training horses...I pay the same day fees. I expect communication on where my horse can honestly go. I expect honesty, no slipping of drugs or other altering [ractices that I do not approve of. During my lesson..I expect your full attention. Wow! I could go on.
