good advice. i hadnt heard of it before but my mare has it , very frightening, i feel as if i dont want to risk riding her now incase she gets it when we are out on our own! owners with any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks, heidi.devine@btinternet.com

I don't necessarily agree with it. I have worked with a horse who ties up chronically and find the only way for him to overcome the discomfort is to walk him. But in saying that some days walking does not help, and just leave him be. When this occurs though I find his recovery is alot slower than when I have been able to walk it out of him, eg. go back to him hours later and he is still stiff.
