all good info and advice for any horse owner. The time comes when even the most experience human provider for the health care of horses comes face to face with some type of worming situation. Right now I am looking for a good full proof worming for a horse with pin worms. This horse is on a routine 8 week worming program but came down with a severe case of pin worms. what could be the primary reason? If reworming now for the pin worms, which "brand" would bring best results and how many doses. Does anything else need to be done to running sheds, board fencing or pasture? Another horse is in the same 10 acre pasture- with worming done every eight weeks but wormed by another person. No sign whatsoever of worm problem with that horse.

a friend has cows and uses apple cider vinegar in the water for about 3 days a month to worm the cows. his cows are all parasite free. the doseage is pretty low, ie aroung 1 oz. per 10 gallons and in injected in the water automatically. is there any reason this would not work on a horse?

I am trying this using a feeding syringe but my mare sees the tube get close to her mouth and it's a 15 minute dance to get her to keep her head still and let me rub the syring around her face. She's ok then but the second the tip touched the corner of her mouth, the head in the air and backign up starts again. I can put my fingers in her mouth with applesause on them but not the syringe. I don't want to force her and make this experience negative. I don't know her history and how deworming was done before. I've just added it to her grain in the past but then it takes her 2 days to clean a small amount up. Any further advice?

If your horse does not 'learn' to like the deworming past and procedure, he will probably figure out when it is time for deworming by the sudden 'applesauce-treat-in-serynge' three days before de-worming...this may cause some problems.

How about an organic alternative to chemical worming that eliminates the stress? Our customers tell us that Diatomaceous Earth can provide non-toxic continuous protection from both internal and external parasites with daily use and at low cost. It has many other benfits.
